Ahhh….the wedding dress.  Every girl dreams of her beautiful dress and has visions of what it will look like before she has ever even met Mr. Right.  Still, when it comes time to actually buy that dress, finding the one that truly makes you look as stunning as you have always dreamed can be a little more difficult than you thought.  By keeping these simple tips in mind, however, you will find the perfect dress and you will have the beautiful wedding you have always dreamed of having.

Tip #1:  Consider Your Wedding

You can narrow down your wedding dress options by first considering the type of wedding you plan on having.  If you are having a formal wedding, you will likely want to select a wedding dress that is floor length. In addition, you will probably want to stick with a dress that is white, cream, or ivory in color.  Of course, you can further dress it up with accessories such as a train, a veil, and even elbow-length gloves.

If you are having a semi-formal wedding, on the other hand, you probably won’t include a veil, train, or gloves.  Yet, you will likely still want to stick with the floor length dress.  For a casual wedding, however, you can feel free to choose any color or size that you want – just be sure it is fitting for the occasion.

Tip #2:  Consider Your Style

Your personal sense of style should have an impact on the type of dress you choose for your wedding.  After all, you will have the pictures and the memories from this special day for the rest of your life.  Therefore, you want to be able to look back on these pictures and see yourself, not some bridal Barbie doll that was dressed up to please others.

Tip #3:  Consider Your Body Type

In order to look your absolute best, you want to select a wedding dress style that compliments your body type.  Don’t get caught up in trends if those fashions do not suit your body type.  Bustles, for example, generally are not flattering on women with wide hips.  Similarly, halter-top dresses may not be the best option if you can’t fill them out or if you have more than the top can handle.

Tip #4:  Consider Your Budget

Before you start looking at wedding dresses, decide how much you are able to spend on the dress of your dreams.  Then, do some comparison shopping in order to find the best prices. 

Tip #5:  Consider Many Styles

Even if you think you will look best in one style of dress, you should try on as many dresses as possible.  Sometimes, a dress that doesn’t look so great on the rack will look great once you it on.  If possible, take pictures of yourself in various dresses and write down the style and model number so you can look at them later and make a decision about which one is best for you.
