While your wedding day is one of the most exciting days in your life, the costs associated with the special day can also make it one of the most stressful. Therefore, in order to make certain your wedding day is memorable but not necessarily stressful, there are a few things you can do to help keep the costs down.

Decrease Your Guest List

By taking a few people off of your guest list, you can save a substantial amount of money on your wedding plans. Not only does this decrease the amount of food you need to serve, it can also help you choose a smaller and less expensive venue. It will also help you cut down on the number of decorations, tables, centerpieces, favors, and wedding invitations you will need.

Save on Invitations

With the advances that have been made with technology, many couples are choosing to make their own wedding invitations. While you will need to use a little creativity in order to create your own wedding cards, you can potentially save a great deal of money by going this route rather than having them professionally made.

Making Changes to the Cake

Many couples overestimate the amount of cake they need for their weddings. Don’t go for a huge cake that will go uneaten. Rather, get just enough to serve your guests. Or, consider an alternative to the wedding cake. One trend is to serve cupcakes rather than a wedding cake, which is easier to serve and less expensive to buy. If you absolutely must have a beautifully decorated cake for your reception, order a smaller wedding cake for the cutting ceremony and then serve a less expensive sheet cake to your guests.
