Are you trying to put together a gift list for your wedding guests to select from on your big day?  If so, there are many ideas you want to consider adding to your list.

Deciding on the Right Gifts

If you and your future spouse are just starting out, you will certainly want to add the basics to your list.  For example, you will likely need items such as pots and pans, cutlery sets and dinner service. When picking out your designs, remember to ask for six or eight place settings.  This way, you will have plenty of place settings in the future rather than trying to match them later as your family expands or you attempt to entertain a few guests.

If you already have these basics in place, you may want to ask for some of those extras that make being together even more enjoyable.  Items such as barbecue grills, deck sets and planters are nice items to have.  Or, if you have already acquired these items, you may want to put request items that will allow you to have fun together or to experience new things, such as requesting tickets to ride in a hot air balloon or to take scuba diving lessons.

Things to Keep in Mind When Making a Gift List

In addition to deciding on the right gifts, there are many other things you need to keep in mind when making a gift list.  Some of these include:

· Try to make about one third of your gifts under $25 for those that are on a tight budget and break down larger sets so no one feels obligated to purchase the entire set
· Offer your guests a very focused gift list so you can be certain to get the items you really need
· Register with a company that will allow you to display your registry online so all of your guests can view it and so it can be updated easily
· Try to avoid asking for “limited edition” sets, as these can be difficult to add more to in the future
