When it comes to planning a wedding, the first question you will need to ask is whether you want a big wedding or a small wedding.  In order to answer this question, however, you will have to consider the budget you have available for your big day as well as a couple other important factors.

Who’s Paying?

When it comes to your wedding budget, you need to first find out who is willing to help out with paying for the event.  Although tradition dictates that the parents of the bride pay for the wedding, many of today’s couples no longer follow this tradition.  In fact, parents on both sides may help pay for the wedding and the couple may pay for it as well.  In some cases, the couple pays for the entire wedding without parental assistance.

Who to Invite?

Determining who to invite and how many guests will be invited is often determined by who is paying the bill.  If the bride’s parents are paying the majority of the bill, they may get to choose the majority of the guests to be on the list.  Of course, this will depend upon the person paying the majority of the bill and his or her willingness to share in the creation of the guest list.

How Big is the Venue?

Even if your budget is large enough for a big wedding, the venue you have chosen may not.  Therefore, you need to consider the size of the venue when creating your guest list.  If you want a larger wedding than the venue supports, you will have to find another place for your dream wedding.

While large weddings are more traditional, a smaller wedding can be more intimate and romantic.  Therefore, either way you go, you will certainly have a very special day that will provide memories to last a lifetime.
