I recently came across a story about a bride in Scotland that was actually arrested on her wedding day. Apparently, the 31-year-old woman had a warrant out for her arrest after she threatened a woman the day before. The woman she threatened was on the bride’s jury during her trial for driving with a suspended licenses. Her license was suspended after she had been convicted of a drunk driving charge last year.
Obviously, this woman isn’t exactly an angel, seeing as she has been in a great deal of legal trouble over the past year or so. Nonetheless, it had to have been quite embarrassing to be arrested in front of her entire wedding party. Luckily for her, her wedding was small scale and was taking place at the courthouse. Still, it got me thinking about embarrassing wedding moments.
Luckily for me, nothing embarrassing took place at my wedding. But, a quick search online brought up a number of wedding horror stories. According to one person, the bride and the groom’s sister actually got into a fist fight at the reception he attended. I guess the sister had been making comments all night long and the bride finally got tired of it and punched her!
Another story I found online was about a poor couple whose wedding venue had doublebooked. As a result, they had to have the wedding on the Freeway Atrium, which had a freeway running underneath it. As if that wasn’t bad enough, vagrants passed through during the wedding ceremony and actually asked for handouts as the ceremony was taking place!
In another story, a very interesting thing happened when the minister got to the part about “If anyone here know of any reason why these two cannot lawfully be married, speak now or forever hold your peace,” a huge clap of thunder shook the church so hard that the minister was almost knocked off his feet! Thankfully, the couple is still married eight years later.
So, do any of you have any embarrassing wedding stories to share?
