Has someone asked you to make the toast at his or her wedding?  If so, you may be feeling a bit nervous about what to say and what to do when the time comes to give the toast.  If so, there are a few steps you should keep in mind in order to present a toast that will be remembered for all the right reasons.

Step #1:  Come Prepared

The first step to presenting an unforgettable speech is to prepare your speech well in advance.  By preparing what you will say and practicing the speech beforehand, you can be certain you will put together a magnificent toast and that you will present it without a hitch.

Step #2:  Keep it Short

Don’t worry about writing a long, drawn out toast.  Rather, the best wedding toast is one that is nice and short.  Avoid the temptation to ramble on or to tell inside jokes that most of the wedding guests won’t understand.  Allow your personality to shine through, but keep it clean and on a positive note.

Step #3:  Speak in a Clear Voice

When presenting your toast, be certain to speak in a loud and clear voice.  This way, everyone will be able to hear you.  Be sure to use a microphone if one is available.

Step #4:  Involve the Audience

To help alleviate your nerves and to make your toast more enjoyable to all of the wedding guests, make an effort to get them involved in toasting the happy couple.  Even if you simply ask them to join you in expressing your congratulations on their happy nuptials.
