Are you dreaming of having a medieval wedding? If so, there are many different venues you can choose from when trying to recreate the medieval feeling on your special day.
Churches
When planning a medieval wedding, a church can still be a great setting for your nuptials. In order to stick with the medieval theme, however, you should search for church that is built from stone or contains other historic features that will help you and your guests feel as if you have gone back in time.
A Backyard
Backyards were commonly the venue for weddings during medieval times, so there is no reason why you can’t do the same for your wedding. If you or someone you know has a backyard that is large enough for you and your guests, this can be the perfect setting. If the backyard has a garden, plan on having your wedding ceremony held there.
A Park or Garden
If you don’t have a backyard available for your wedding, look into having your ceremony at a local park or garden. Contact your local Parks and Recreation Department to find out what is available in your area. In addition, be certain to find out about any rules and regulations you need to follow while enjoying your wedding at the park.
A Country Club
A country club or a golf club can also be a great setting for a medieval wedding. These venues usually offer a beautiful outside setting if you have your heart set on an outdoor wedding. Or, you can use one of the private rooms at the country club and then simply decorate it with medieval décor.
Renaissance Fairs
To create the perfect medieval feel, you might want to look into having your wedding held at a renaissance fair. Here, you will have a whole host of participants dressed in medieval clothing to help create the ambience you want. In addition, you don’t have to pay for any decorations. A quick Internet search for Renaissance fairs will bring up information about fairs in your area.
Obviously, if you live in an area near to a real life castle, the castle would be the ideal setting for a medieval wedding. Unfortunately, most of us don’t live near a real life castle, but you can still enjoy the medieval theme with these alternative choices.
