I came upon this story about Target recently and I thought it was a real shame that the company would do something so rude. Apparently, a bride-to-be decided to register at Target before her big wedding day. Everything seemed great because the bride-to-be was a huge fan of Target and she found many items at the store that she really hoped to receive as wedding gifts. Unfortunately, she got more than she had asked for and Target refused to make amends.

It seems that Target had a glitch in its system and it failed to properly keep track of the gift registry purchases. As a result, the blushing bride and her new husband found that they had several duplicate gifts when they unwrapped their presents. So, the bride decided to take the gifts back and ask for store credit.

This sure doesn’t seem like a big deal, right? After all, she wasn’t asking for a refund or to receive cash. She simply wanted to exchange the gifts and get something new from the store. Unfortunately for her, Target didn’t see things the same way.

Since the bride didn’t have receipts for her wedding day gifts, the store refused to provide her with store credit. Instead, the manager told her she should call her wedding guests and ask them for the receipts. The couple also received a damaged wok in the mail, which was still wrapped in a Target box, and the store initially refused to replace that item as well. What a mess!

The fact that the whole mixup was Target’s fault is the part that really bothers me. It seems to me that Target needs to take another look at its store policies or many brides-to-be will certainly be staying clear of their registry.
