When you get married, you will likely exchange rings as a symbol of your never-ending love.  But, in addition to choosing rings made with the perfect design and from the material you love the most, have you considered whether or not you will also have your rings engraved?  If you are considering engraving your rings, it is a good idea to learn more about the different types of engraving methods available.  That way, you can select the method that is best for you.

Hand Engraving Your Rings

If you are a traditionalist, you may want to have your rings hand engraved.  This is the oldest method for engraving and, since the engraving is completed by hand, this is the most customizable method available.  The downside to hand engraving is that there is a possibility of a mistake being made during the engraving process since it is subject to human error.  With a highly skilled engraver, however, you should enjoy fantastic results.

Machine Engraving Your Rings

Machine engraving has been the most popular method for engraving over the last several years.  With this method, an automatic engraver controlled by a computer uses a template to stamp the message into the ring.  Although you can count on a machine engraving to turn out perfectly nearly every time, you are limited with the font styles you can use.  In addition, the number of letters you can include in your message are often limited.

Laser Engraving Your Rings

Laser engraving actually combines the benefits of hand engraving with the benefits of machine engraving.  This is because laser engraving offers the same flexibility of design as hand engraving while also offering the precision that machine engraving provides.  Since laser engraving can create symbols with very thin lines, it is also capable of adding far more letters than a machine-engraved ring.
