Whether you are superstitious or not, you will likely want to follow the tradition of wearing “Something old, something new, something borrowed, something blue” when you piece together your bridal ensemble.  Believe it or not, you can actually achieve this desire with the help of jewelry - and, you don’t even have to spend a great deal of money to do it!

Something Old

Including something old in your bridal ensemble should be relatively easy.  Most families have some sort of family heirloom that has been passed down from one generation to the next, so your family may already have the perfect jewelry piece picked out for you.  Or, you may be able to obtain a family heirloom from future husband’s family.  Imagine how special your soon-to-be in-laws will feel when you wear something from their family as you walk down the aisle!  If there are no family heirlooms on either family side, you might want to consider purchasing a piece of estate jewelry to fulfill the role of “something old.”  Then, hand onto the piece and start your own tradition of pacing down a lovely piece of jewelry.

Something New

Estate jewelry can also potentially help you with finding “something new” to wear on your wedding day.  Finding a piece that has never been worn can qualify as your “something new.”  Otherwise, you might simply wish to head to the mall and purchase a new piece to wear on your special day.

Something Borrowed

If you borrow a family heirloom from your future husband’s family in order to fulfill the “something old” part of the tradition, you may think you are taking care of “something borrowed” as well.  In reality, you should actually have a separate item for each part of the saying, which means you will need to borrow a piece from someone else.  If you don’t have any friends or family with a piece that suits your ensemble, you might want to consider borrowing jewelry from a local retailer.  Although you will have to pay a hefty deposit to borrow the piece, you can pick a truly dazzling piece that will flatter your ensemble without having to pay an extravagant price.  And, since you are giving the piece back after the wedding, it fulfills the “something borrowed” aspect of the tradition.

Something Blue

Finally, you will need to include something blue.  Many brides take care of this one with the help of a blue garter belt, but you can also choose a beautiful piece of blue jewelry as well.  Keep in mind that there are many different shades of blue, so the blue item doesn’t have to be deep and dark. Rather, a subtle azure may be the best choice for you.
