If you are planning the wedding of your dreams, but you are looking for some ways to save money, you may want to take a closer look at the invitations that you are sending. Obviously, you can purchase discount invitations or ones that are a little less elaborate, but there are other ways to save money on your invitations that you may not have considered.

For example, the postage to send invitations and the RSVP cards is one expense that many couples don’t take into account when planning their invitation budget. While paying for postage is unavoidable, you can reduce the cost by sending a postcard for your RSVP rather than a formal card with an envelope.

With today’s technology and with the changing of tradition and etiquette standards, there are other ways for you to save money as well. For example, while etiquette used to dictate sending your invitation in two separate envelopes, this is no longer necessary. You can also save on your invitations by choosing invitations that are printed rather than engraved. With today’s printing processes, these invitations can look just as beautiful as those that are engraved and they can cost far less.

Before you order your invitations, you should also be certain to create a guest list and to finalize the number of guests that you will be inviting. This way, you won’t order more invitations than necessary. Of course, you will want to have a few extra invitations in case you make a mistake on one and in case you remember someone later that you had forgotten. Nonetheless, the more solid your wedding guest list, the less you will spend on unnecessary invitations.
